Droopy eyelid (ptosis) surgery
There are various surgeries that can repair a droopy eyelid. The specific procedure is based upon a variety of factors including the severity of ptosis, the strength of the muscles that lift the eyelid and surgeon preference. The goal of surgery is to elevate the eyelid to improve the obstructed visual field and enhance appearance.
Cosmetic eyelid surgery
Blepharoplasty is a procedure to enhance the appearance of the eyes. It may address puffiness, fullness, excess skin, as well as depressions in the area around the eyes. Blepharoplasty may be performed on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both.
Removal of benign and malignant eyelid masses
The management of tumors on the eyelid depends upon the type of tumor and its location. Some eye tumors require no intervention. Others may require surgical removal. If there is a defect after the tumor has been removed, the surgeon will reconstruct the eyelid.
- BOTOX® is commonly used to minimize facial wrinkles. It works by gradually blocking the nerve impulse to the muscles. As the muscles weaken, the skin overlying the muscle relaxes and the wrinkles soften.
- Juvéderm® injectables are facial volume fillers used to create a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance. Fillers offer many of the benefits of surgery without the downtime.
